How to find the BPM of a song
- Play the song and listen for the beat you would clap or tap your foot to.
- Tap the Tap tempo button (or press T) on every beat. Eight taps give a steady reading.
- Press Start to check the click matches the song.
The tap tempo averages your last eight taps. Pause for more than two seconds and it starts a fresh count.
Half time and double time
If you get 70 BPM for a song you expected to be fast, you may be tapping every other beat. Double it to 140. Most pop and dance music sits between 90 and 130 BPM, which helps you sanity check a reading.
